A favorite local hike of mine is the Mendon Ponds Park Loop. Only a 20 minute drive from campus it’s the perfect afternoon walk to destress from classes or catch up with a friend. Mendon Ponds Park is the largest Monroe County park and a popular space for outdoor activities. For this particular hike, park by the trailhead for Devil’s Bathtube and follow the prompts on All Trials for directions and trail information. This 2.1 mile loop is short enough for a busy college schedule, but just long enough to decompress and connect with nature.  I particularly love this area in winter as this park is beautiful when there is a fresh coating of snow on the  trail and pond. Keep an eye out for deer and birds as they frequent the trails too. After a snowy walk I always love to enjoy a warm drink. I suggest any of the local coffee shops for a latte or hot chocolate. Fuego coffee, Javas, Boulder Coffee, and Cafe Sasso are a few of my favorites.
If you enjoyed this hike take a look at the Monroe County Website for other park information for your next visit to Mendon Ponds.
